Gucci Bear-Print Tee Review: The Spec Block Claims a 0.0001 Error Range — Our Tape Found 1.1 cm Between Two Mediums

How we tested

We flat-measured three sizes plus a repeat M a day after unpacking, three passes each on a steel tape, and photographed labels and the option name. The delivered black GU Bear print was compared with the listing photo, fit was checked on three body types, and order-to-warehouse and warehouse-to-door timings were logged.

We ordered the black GU Bear tee in M, XL, 5XL plus a second M and taped every panel. The listing's 0.0001 error-range line is a database artefact; the real spread between two mediums was 1.1 cm in body length.

Gucci Bear-Print Tee Review: The Spec Block Claims a 0.0001 Error Range — Our Tape Found 1.1 cm Between Two Mediums
What works
  • Wide M–5XL run with a sensible grade between sizes
  • Light 180g-or-under knit suited to spring through autumn
  • Ten print options across white and black bases
Watch-outs
  • No flat measurements published, and repeat units varied by up to 1.1 cm
  • Slim cut layers badly over anything with volume
  • Print is not machine-wash or dry-clean friendly
Who this suits
Buyers who will request measurements and size from centimetres: a cheap light summer tee for slim-to-regular builds, and a low-risk first order for anyone learning to read an archive row.
Who should skip
Skip it if you want a relaxed or heavyweight tee, if you expect two units in one size to measure identically, or if you need item-level buyer feedback before spending.

Gucci branding on a $5.67 blank is an odd proposition, and we expected the print to be the interesting part of this order. It wasn't. The most useful thing we can tell a reader about the black GU Bear T-shirt is how far one unit's tape numbers sit from another's — and how little the spec block on the listing helps you there.

What the archive row actually says

We verified the row before ordering: item ID 7718731454 on Weidian, $5.67 against a listed original of $6.01, marked in stock and filed under Gucci. Behind the English description sits a Chinese spec block — pullover, crew neck, short sleeve, print decoration, slim fit, polyester with a milk-silk face, 180 g or under, spring through autumn, sizes M to 5XL, and ten colourways built on white and black bases.

Two details matter to anyone arriving from an old spreadsheet. The colour options are named by print, not by "bear": the one we ordered reads black short sleeve, GU Bear. And the spec block carries an error-range line of 0.0001 — a database artefact from the supplier's template, not a manufacturing tolerance, and certainly not millimetres of guaranteed accuracy on a five-dollar garment.

The only tolerance that matters to a buyer is the distance between your chest and the shirt's chest. Nothing on this listing states it.

Our numbers, taken flat

Each unit rested flat for a day after unpacking, then took three passes with a steel tape at the same points. We measured a second M to see whether two shirts in one size behave like one another.

M48.0 cm66.0 cm40.5 cm17.5 cm

5XL61.0 cm78.0 cm50.5 cm21.5 cm
M, second unit48.6 cm67.1 cm40.9 cm17.9 cm

The grade itself is sensible: roughly 4.5 cm of chest and 4 cm of length per two sizes up to XL, then a wider jump into the extended run. What is not sensible is the repeatability inside a single size. Between two mediums we logged 0.6 cm of chest, 0.4 cm of shoulder, 0.4 cm of sleeve and 1.1 cm of body length. That last figure is the one that reaches a wearer — it is the difference between a tee that tucks and one that sits on the hip.

Why that 1.1 cm decides your size

Half of this product's useful information is missing from the page it is sold on. With no flat measurements published, the letter on the label is doing work it cannot do: category reports describe Gucci T-shirts running small, with buyers routinely told to size up, and a side-by-side rep-versus-retail comparison matched a rep small against a retail medium. Add a slim cut and a batch-to-batch spread of about a centimetre, and sizing by habit becomes a coin flip.

The practical route is to send the seller a measurement request for the size you intend to buy, compare the reply with a shirt you already own, and order from those numbers. Our tape says a 48 cm chest in M and a 61 cm chest in 5XL, so if you know the chest of a tee that fits you, the ladder above gets you close before the seller replies.

Fit on three builds

On slim and regular frames the cut reads as intended: close through the chest, a small shoulder drop, a short sleeve that ends mid-bicep, and a hem that clears the waistband when seated. On a broader shoulder and chest the same letter size pulls across the front and the sleeve starts riding up. Layering is where the slim cut shows its limits — fine over a bare torso or a thin vest, awkward over anything with volume, because the thin knit takes the shape of whatever sits beneath it.

Care, and what the print will not tolerate

Print-care guidance is consistent that printed graphics are not suited to dry cleaning or machine washing, since the decoration can peel or crack. Reports about Gucci T-shirts also include a buyer who found sleeve colour loss after a single wash in plain water — a category-level report, not a finding about this listing. Cold hand-washing, inside out, no tumble dry, is the cautious route. Separately, rep Gucci blanks are described as thin and comfortable but inconsistent between batches, which matches what our tape found within one size.

Who this suits

Read the row as a cheap, light, slim summer tee with a geometric bear print and a wide size run, and it earns its price. Read it as a garment whose spec sheet can be trusted, and the 0.0001 line will mislead you. The link, the price and the option names are worth re-checking before every order; the option you want is the black GU Bear, and the letters on the tag are a starting point rather than an answer.

Is the 0.0001 error range on the listing a real tolerance?
No. It reads as a template artefact in the supplier's Chinese spec block, not a garment tolerance. Our two units in the same size differed by 1.1 cm in body length, so treat any tolerance figure on a rep listing as unverified and measure what arrives.
I wear a retail medium. Which size should I order here?
Request flat chest and length from the seller first, then compare with a tee you own. Category reports say Gucci T-shirts run small, and a rep small has been compared with a retail medium, so most readers land one size above their usual letter.
Is the $5.67 price and the link still live?
Re-check the row before buying. Price, stock and option names change without notice, and options are named by print — look for the black GU Bear rather than a "bear" label. Confirm item ID 7718731454 still resolves in your agent's app.

Editor verdict

A cheap, light slim-cut tee whose real value sits in the tape, not the spec block. Size from flat centimetres, not letters, and expect a print that only survives cold hand-washing.
